Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT)

There has been a shift in the mood of Canadian citizens over the last twenty years towards the LGBTQA community. In fact, LGBTQIA rights in Canada are some of the most advanced in the world and Canada has frequently been referred to as one of the world’s most gay-friendly countries. Its largest cities, Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver and Ottawa, feature their own gay villages. Most large cities host their own Pride parades every summer. In 2016, Justin Trudeau become the first sitting Prime Minister to walk in a Pride Parade. Recent polls also have indicated that a majority of Canadians support same-sex marriage, with the most support stemming from Ontario, Québec and British Columbia, and the lowest support in Alberta.
